What are we made of?

When you watch a film like The Matrix™, it does lead you to question some things about your current existence. You don't have to worry too much about the events that happened in this film though, because trying to simulate this reality down to the atomic level with a digital computer is impossible due to the amount of processing power you would need per cubic inch. Now you would think that a scenario that has some similarities to the world of The Matrix™ would then not be likely, but what about if the system was set up by a Creator that has unlimited power? The scientists have worked out that all matter is made up of atoms and that while the matter has to follow the laws of physics, as worked out by those scientists, the particles that make up the atoms seem to operate in a way that then breaks all those laws. Atoms consist of a nucleus, that contains protons, neutrons, and electrons that orbit in a vague cloud. The electrons have an interesting property in that they will orbit the nucleus without losing any energy and the force that holds them in that position is a perfect force that seems to be unlimited, seems almost as if they were set up by a Creator with unlimited power. When we go up to the molecular level the system is still perfect, because the force that holds a group of molecules together is still unlimited and this bond will never wear out, but it can only be broken by applying enough energy to it. When we go up above the molecular level then this is when the imperfections that we see in this world start to take effect and you could also say that this is the point at which The Simulation starts.

Can we trust our brains?

I will call this reality that we are in The Simulation in order to differentiate it from the world of The Matrix™ and to save on the ™ symbols. As you go through this life you will probably notice some people doing things that are illogical, but they will be convinced that they are doing the right thing and you will find that it is difficult to change their mind. To understand why this can happen you will need to realise that we only really exist in a small section of our brains. If you do a search on the internet for "touch nerve endings" and read some of the results that you get, you will find that the signals from the nerve endings under your skin all terminate at a certain point in your brain and this is effectively where you exist. The basic problem with this is that the part of your brain that handles your emotions can send its signals in to the part that you exist in, without you having any way to block it, and this also seems to reduce the effectiveness of the logical part of your brain, for a certain period of time, until the emotional feeling subsides. This seems to be the case for any of the strong emotional feelings, even happiness, and it is one of the things in this Simulation that causes the most trouble.
In the Bible Jesus had some advice on how to handle situations where people can become very emotional, he says in Matthew 5:39-44 "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;". You can see from this passage that Jesus is an expert when it comes to the workings of The Simulation and he is basically advising his followers on the best ways to stop a potentially bad situation from getting worse, you can see that the advice is to always allow the emotional person to do what they want, while he expects his followers to suppress their emotions in order to diffuse the situation.
Another illusion that a lot of people seem to be affected by, in this Simulation, is beauty. When one human looks at another one and says that they are beautiful, they only think that this is the case because a large group of cells in their brain has performed a piece of emotional post processing on the received image in order to make them feel this way. Imagine now if someone could change around the signals in that part of the brain and make everyone look ordinary, this would certainly even things up a bit in the world and cause a slight increase in the level of harmony. The main reason I have mentioned this is because a lot of money is generated by this simple illusion and if it was removed then that could increase the amount of money that is available for donation to the poor, rather than being wasted in a persuit that gains the world nothing.

The creator of The Simulation

In the Bible we can see that there are a lot of times when God uses his unlimited power to change things so that events in The Simulation go his way. In Judges 4:14-15 it says "And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him. And the LORD discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet." and we can see how Sisera reacted after witnessing that the rules of The Simulation could be broken. You can almost imagine how he felt, after all those battles that he had won before, to suddenly find that they were all a waste of time because he only had to fight with armies that did not have the assistance of the creator of The Simulation. In Judges 7:20-22 it says "And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon. And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled. And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Beth–shittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abel–meholah, unto Tabbath." and here we can see that when Gideon and his men blew their trumpets and cried out, that God had planted an illusion in to the minds of the Midianite army that caused them to fight with their fellow men. This shows that God has the power to make any changes that he wants in The Simulation in order to achieve his goals.
In Ezra 1:1-2: we read "Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah." which shows that God can stir up a mans spirit in order to get them to help Him with something. This could explain why King James of England was so determined to get his version of the Bible completed, even though, in the end, it was not to his advantage, but it has certainly helped to allow God's word to be spread around the world.

The main adversary

The final mention has to go to the villain of the piece. We see him make his first move in Genesis 3:1-5 where it says "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? Genesis 3:2: And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." and he successfuly manages to corrupt The Simulation so that sin can enter the world. We then get to see in Job 1:12-19 where it says "And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them: And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee." that Satan can also do a lot of damage when God allows him to. We see that he can plant suggestions into peoples minds, when he arranged for the Chaldeans and the Sabeans to attack Job's stock, and that he can also break the rules of The Simulation by causing fire to fall from the sky and by generating a strong wind out of nothing. In Job 2:6: it says "And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life. So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown." and here we can see that Satan is an expert at Physics, Chemistry and Biology because he knows exactly which molecules to move around and change in The Simulation so that Job will be sick with the boils, but will not die from the illness. Even the best doctors in the world would not be able to match Satans skill when it comes to spreading an illness if God decides to punish or test us by removing our protective hedge. Finally in Matthew 4:8-9 where it says "Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me." we can see that the devil is implying that he can give all the kingdoms of the world to Jesus. If this indicates that the devil has some sort of ownership of the kingdoms of the world, then who knows what he has done to them that might be causing our scientists to be deceived into thinking that we were not created by God. Also how do we know that some parts of The Simulation have not been changed by him? Remember that the devil is an expert when it comes to Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Final judgement

In the Bible it says in Revelation of John 20:12: "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." and we see from it that a final judgement is on the cards. If this Simulation was still in a perfect state then you would expect God to send his angels to keep things under control and to stop people who do evil from getting away with the things that they do, but if we look in Matthew 13:27-30 where Jesus is finishing a parable "So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn." we see that justice will not be served until the end of The Simulation.
So when the end comes and The Simulation is over will you have been saved by having followed Jesus' words, or will you have only concentrated on having enjoyed this life, and the illusions that it had served up to you, and then have allowed your simulated emotions to have taken precedence over the logical thoughts in your brain that were trying to save you? I hope that in the end your choice will have been the former one and, remember, if someone ever gives you the choice between taking the bitter pill or the sweet pill in this life, then chose the bitter one.
